TROUGH

Water played a crucial role in the development of Coachella

Coachella was settled in 1898, but development picked up considerably two years later, when a water well was completed near Grapefruit Avenue and Fifth Street. A watering trough for horses was set up at Orchard and Sixth streets, outside what is now City Hall.

Today, water remains an essential part of our daily lives. We must continue to conserve this precious resource to make sure we can sustain a safe and reliable water supply for future generations.
